I have mentioned before that I am the best housewife/homemaker ever!!!!
My awesomeness at this never fails to amaze me.
I never really believed that why you were pregnant that you craved foods, I found I was wrong. I haven't really craved anything that bad, but I did want rice krispie treats for about two weeks. Every day I would wake up and think ok I will make them today, about 4 days into this I made peanut butter rice krispies. While they were good ( we finished off the pan in about 5 days) they were just not what I was craving. So last Saturday a friend called to see if we wanted to come to a BBQ, so I thought this would be a great time to make rice krispie treats, we could share them and I wouldn't' feel bad that I ate the whole pan again. ( Trying not to gain excessive weight when all I want is sugary things= not good)
I have watched my Mom make rice krispie treats oh at least 50 times, every April Conference, Family gatherings, Thursdays... I have even helped her make them a few times.
You would think then that I could make them....NOPE, i failed and horribly.
I had the general idea, melt butter and marsh mellows, mix with rice krispies...
By this point in my life I should know that I need more then just a "general idea".
So I get the marsh mellow and butter in my biggest glass bowl and put it in the microwave, and start to melt it. The mixture melted..enough.. so I pour it onto the rice krispies. It turned into a blob, it didn't mix it just sort of blobbed. Then I turn it into the greased pan, and it blobs into the pan. At this point I thought I can still fix this, I'll just butter a spoon and press it out. That worked... So now I have marsh mellow in rice krispies, somewhat mixed, in a pan getting pressed flat. About now I decided that this treat could not go to the BBQ with us, and that I was once again a simple recipe failure. We left ran to the store so I could get a treat, and went to a wonderful BBQ.
The next day I called my Mom to see what I had done wrong.Well first off if you don't use "new" marsh mellows it won't work. If it doesn't get melted enough ( like not bumps in the marsh mellows) it won't work. and if your name is Jessie it won't work.
I had done everything wrong that you could and I had a brick that looked like rice krispies to show for it. and I was still craving rice krispie treats.
I decided last night to give it a second shot. I bought brand new marsh mellows, and I used a pan on the stove top instead of the microwave, and I called my Mom for the instructions right before beginning and about 4 times while making them( I really didn't' want to mess up again)
And they turned out perfect. They are all ready half gone Jedd at most of them, apparently they are one of his favorite treats( After 5 years together something I should have known)
